That'll blog
Mom: Baby, did you poop? I smell poop. (she sniffs the baby) Elder son, did you fart?
elder son: Yeah, maybe a little.
Mom: Its really stinky.
Elder son: If it isn't stinky it won't be a fart, mom.

a conversation
Setting: 6:30 a.m. Elijah climbs in bed with me and snuggles up.
Elijah: Can I stay here forever?
me: Sure, but you'll miss preschool.
Elijah: No, I mean, can I stay in this family forever?

update
Clearly, it has been a while since I updated this blog. Nathanael has taken some steps (up to four at a time), and is finally cutting his third tooth. I suspect that there are several other teeth ready pop out as well.
Jake is winding up with camp, and I am exhausted. I will be happy to have my parenting partner back more than one day a week.

guests and guests
We had some houseguests last week, and today we are cleaning and preparing for another guest (a friend from seminary). I'll try to carve out some time to update you on the boys.

Water, Water, Everywhere
For all who were wondering about how we are.
Today was sunny--praise God!
We have had tornadoes, flash floods and enduring floods in our neck of the woods. We are okay. Camp sustained a fair bit of damage to roads and trails. Part of our neighbor's yard washed away (it was actually pretty amazing to witness! No danger to people or buildlings.)
We drove north up the river today, I saw many mudslides, several of which had evidently covered the road. Note to self: do not drive along the river road in heavy down pour.
A little town NE of us is under water yet again, after massive flooding last August. This one is said to be worse. It is supposed to rain here again the next three days.
